- W2143179618 abstract "The Metropolitan Zone Toluca Valley (MZTV) recorded high levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) impacting atmospheric processes and induce adverse effects on the health of the population, however this pollutant has been under-estimated. The objective was to determine levels of PM2.5 and identify the most common elements associated with particles in four stations in the MZTV for two seasons drycold and dry-hot year to analyze probable emission sources. The PM2.5 samples (100) were collected from November 2013 to May 2014 on teflon filters and fiberglass, using Hi vol and medium volume equipment respectively, the filters were weighed after 24 h. The multi-elemental study (62 elements) was performed using acid extraction and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS model ELAN DRC). The PM2.5 samples were collected simultaneously in Oxtotitlan, Airport, San Cristobal, San Mateo revealed higher concentrations of particles in rural-urban regions as San Cristobal similarly in dry-cold season; elements such as Al, B, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Na, S, Si and Zn is present in high concentrations unlike hot drying time Applying multivariate statistics in conjunction with weather data and criterion levels allowed gases know the main correlates of multielement composition of PM2.5 resulting in a first approximation of emission sources." @default.
