The F level in unstimulated saliva was significantly higher than in the stimulated secretion and increased almost tenfold after oral administration of 10 mg F. A significant increase in F level persisted even after 24 hours. Maintenance of increased levels of F in saliva for such periods could serve as a protective function for the teeth." @default.
