- W2144402468 abstract "New data have been reported on the absorption of oxygen by aqueous sodium sulphite solutions with cobalt sulphate as catalyst at 30°C. It is observed that the absorption rate increases up to a critical sulphite concentration beyond which the absorption rate becomes constant and this critical concentration varies with the catalyst concentration. The order of reaction with respect to sulphite and oxygen in the constant absorption rate regime was found to be zero and two respectively. The absorption rate is affected by the total ionic strength (sulphite and sulphate) in addition to the effect of pH and catalyst concentraion. The reported data were also analysed to ascertain the effect of temperature and a relationship has been proposed for prediction of the second order reaction rate constant. On rapporte de nouveaux résultats relatifs à l'absorption d'oxygène par des solutions aqueuses de sulfite de sodium, en présence du sulfate de cobalt comme catalyseur à 30°C. On a observé que la vitesse d'absorption augmentait jusqu'à un point correspondant à une concentration critique du sulfite, qu'au-delà de ce point la vitesse d'absorption devenait constante et que la concentration critique variait avec celle du catalyseur. On a constaté que, dans le système à vitesse d'absorption constante, les ordres de réaction par rapport au sulfite et à l'oxygène était respectivement 0 et 2. La vitesse d'absorption est influencée par la force ionique totale (sulfite et sulfate) ainsi que par le pH et la concentration du catalyseur. On a aussi analysé les résultats rapportés pour préciser l'effet de la température; on propose une relation pour prévoir la constante de vitesse de la réaction de second ordre." @default.
