- W2146578345 abstract "Progress in developing detailed and reduced chemistry for applications in high-speed propulsion is reviewed. Emphasis is placed on the high-temperature chemistry most relevant to detonations that occur in detonative propulsion. It is indicated that there is good understanding for the simpler fuels, such as hydrogen and methane, but for more complex fuels essential information is lacking. The extent of uncertainty is shown to increase in progressing from acetylene to ethylene to propane to higher hydrocarbons. For the most practical fuels, such as JP-10 and liquid hydrocarbon mixtures, there are significant unknowns that are currently being addressed in research programs. The status of understanding for such fuels is appraised, and the development of simplified chemicalkinetic descriptions suitable for use in computational fluid dynamics is described." @default.
