- W2149097748 abstract "This paper presents a new reservation-based medium access control protocol-dynamic frame packet reservation multiple access (DF-PRMA)-for wireless ATM network, in which the various types of service traffic are statistically multiplexed over the air interface while guaranteeing their individual QoS. One of the key features in the proposed protocol is the variable frame length, which allows for the optimal frame length to be dynamically adjusted according to the traffic load under the integrated service scenario. In particular, this approach allows for adaptability to the short-term overload while under the light load, it can result in a shorter access delay, as opposed to the fixed frame length scheme. One of the other features in this protocol is to use the forced collision slot, which permits a guaranteed slot reservation within a finite duration of up-link frame. We provide a analytical model to evaluate throughput of signaling sub-frame and average reservation delay. Furthermore, the terminal performance with dynamic slot assignment has been evaluated in terms of a cell loss probability. Lastly, comparing the performance of the proposed scheme with that of the fixed frame length packet reservation multiple access (PRMA), it has been shown that the DF-PRMA protocol can keep the channel throughput and guarantee a definite access delay with a lower cell loss rate, which is essential to the real-time traffic in ATM network." @default.
