- W2149257529 abstract "This tesearch involved the syntheris of paly(3-he~yltylthiophene) and poly(3-ocrylthiophcnc) via oxidative condensation with the presence of anhydrous fenic chloride as the catalyst. Polymers obtained were characterired by using FlTR, NMR and UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, TGA and DSC. Poly(3-hexylthiophene) and poly(3-octylthiophene) were successfully synthesized with number avqe molecular weights of 6,6W and 20,700 g/mol respectively 1s measured by gel penneation chromatography. ?he potential of poly(3- alkylthiophcnc) solutions ar sensing agent for the detection of oxygen gas was studied. Solvents used were chloroform, tetnhydrofunn and toluene. W- Visible absorption specmm of polymer solutions ulme recorded hefors and after the polymer solutions were purged With oxygen gas to SNdy the response of polymer rol&ons towards oxygen gas. Results obained showd that d polymer solutions were responsive to the presence of oxygen gas with polyp- hexylthiophene) solution in chloroform was found to be the best." @default.
