With the advent of modern computers and development of efficient algorithms, numerical analysis of two-dimensional random rough surfaces, once an intractable 3D scattering problem can now be computed. One major difficulty in performing numerical simulations is that the natural media such as soils and ocean are with large permittivity that requires a large number of sampling points per square wavelength.
