Significant problems derive from the geotechnical characteristics of the soil, from the presence of buried archaeological remains, and more significantly from the necessity of minimising the effects at the surface on the historical and monumental heritage. This paper illustrates the procedures adopted to evaluate the effects of tunnelling on the existing monuments and historical buildings, with particular reference to contract T2. Specifically, the study of the interaction between construction activities and the built environment was carried out following procedures at two increasing levels of complexity: Level 1 – green-field analyses were carried out first, neglecting the stiffness of the existing buildings for a simplified evaluation of potential damage induced by tunnel excavation; Level 2 – FE computations were then carried out in both two- and three-dimensional conditions, accounting for the stiffness of existing buildings and considering possible long-term effects induced by drainage through the tunnel lining where necessary. The paper illustrates the main aspects of the procedure, using the example case study of Palazzo Grazioli. Die Bauarbeiten an den Losen T2 und T3 der neuen U-Bahnlinie C in Rom erfolgen direkt unter dem historischen Zentrum der Stadt, in einem Bereich von höchstem archäologischem, historischem und künstlerischem Wert. Erhebliche Probleme ergeben sich dabei aus den geotechnischen Eigenschaften des Bodens, aus der Präsenz unterirdischer, archäologischer Überreste und, noch maßgebender, aus der Notwendigkeit, die aus dem Tunnelvortrieb resultierenden Oberflächeneffekte auf historische Gebäude und Baudenkmäler zu minimieren. Der vorliegende Beitrag stellt die im Baulos T2 zur Anwendung gekommenen Verfahren, mithilfe derer die Auswirkungen des Tunnelbaus auf die vorhandenen, historischen Gebäude und Baudenkmäler untersucht wurden, vor. Die Untersuchung der gegenseitigen Beeinflussung von Tunnelvortriebsarbeiten und vorhandener Bebauung wurde mittels der zwei folgenden Verfahren steigender Komplexität durchgeführt: Level 1 – in einem ersten Schritt wurden zunächst so genannte Green-Field-Analysen unter Vernachlässigung der Gebäudesteifigkeit mit dem Ziel der vereinfachten Bewertung möglicher, tunnelbauinduzierter Schadensbilder durchgeführt. Level 2 – in einem zweiten Schritt wurden dann 2D- sowie 3D-FE-Berechnungen durchgeführt, welche die Steifigkeit der vorhandenen Bebauung berücksichtigen und, wo notwendig, eine Untersuchung möglicher Langzeiteffekte, ausgelöst durch eine Entwässerung durch die Tunnelschale, zulassen.
