- W2155486781 abstract "A 56-year-old Caucasian man was hospitalized because of diffuse skin rash and ulcer-like dyspepsia. Skin biopsy showed psoriatic-like dermatitis with perivascular infiltrate of eosinophils and lymphocytes. Laboratory data were normal. An upper GI endoscopy showed numerous slightly elevated yellowish-white mucosal lesions, 0.5–1.5 cm in diameter along the greater curvature of the stomach corpus (Fig. 1A ). Moreover, the corpus mucosa showed an irregular surface with patchy pink and pale areas (Fig. 1A and B), suggestive for intestinal metaplasia [ [1] Graham D.Y. Kato M. Asaka M. Gastric endoscopy in the 21st century: appropriate use of an invasive procedure in the era of non-invasive testing. Dig Liver Dis. 2008; 40: 497-503 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (23) Google Scholar ]. At histology, H/E stain showed the presence of foam cells between glands (Fig. 2A ), and focal intestinal metaplasia of corpus mucosa. H. pylori was absent. Immunohistochemistry for foam cells showed a strong positivity for CD68 (Fig. 2B), a human macrophage marker, and negativity for EMA (Fig. 2C), a marker for epithelial cells, thus supporting the diagnosis of xanthomas." @default.
