- W2157666329 abstract "The spermatozoa of bull, stallion, dog, rabbit, and man convert 17β-estradiol to estrone and are suppressed in this reaction to varying degrees by homologous and heterologous seminal plasma. Bull seminal plasma is by far the most inhibitory and has been studied in detail. Properties revealed by chromatography, precipitation, unltracentrifugation, and enzyme digestion indicate that the inhibitor is a protein. It is destroyed by proteolytic enzymes but is unaffected by β-amylase and neuraminidase. Thorough extraction with a mixture of chloroform-methanol fails to remove inhibitor from the aqueous phase. The possibility that inhibition is due to seminal NAD nucleosidase is eliminated by the discovery of one bull whose seminal plasma lacks that enzyme but is still inhibitory to the dehydrogenase reaction. The properties indicate that the inhibitor is not the same as decapacitation factor." @default.
