Nessa regiao ha utilizacao extensiva da lenha para coccao, enquanto a aquisicao do gas liquefeito de petroleo (GLP) representa um dispendio significativo no orcamento domestico. O objetivo deste trabalho foi de realizar a analise economica do biodigestor de geomembrana de cloreto de polivinila (PVC) para aproveitamento dos dejetos de aproximadamente 50 caprinos em uma propriedade da agricultura familiar em Cacimba do Silva (Juazeiro, Bahia), de 2006 a 2008. Como beneficios economicos foram considerados tres situacoes: A = biogas em substituicao ao GLP; B = A + biofertilizante em substituicao aos adubos sinteticos; C = A + B + credito de carbono. A producao anual do biogas correspondeu a economia em GLP de R$ 539,75. O biofertilizante equivaleu a R$ 425,15 em adubos sinteticos. Os creditos de carbono foram estimados em R$ 211,99. Nas situacoes A, B e C a relacao beneficio:custo foi, respectivamente, de: 1,73; 2,95 e 3,56. Numa simulacao de financiamento com taxa de juros de 5,5% a.a. e pagamento gerado pela situacao A, o periodo de recuperacao economica do capital seria de 7 anos. Em 10 anos, o lucro seria de R$ 1.840,80; 6.092,36 e 8.212,26, nas situacoes A, B e C, respectivamente; valores considerados bem razoaveis ao deixar de adquirir produtos externos a propriedade, resultando em maior seguranca energetica e alimentar da populacao mais carente que vive no campo. ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF PLUG-FLOW ANAEROBIC DIGESTER TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF GOAT MANURE IN NORTHEASTERN SMALLHOLDER FARM ABSTRACT: Goat raising is an important activity for smallholder farms in Northeastern Brazil. In this region there is an extensive utilization of wood for cooking, while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) represents significant expense in domestic budget. The objective of this work was to elaborate an economic analysis of plug-flow digester to take advantage of manure about 50 goats in a smallholder farm in Cacimba do Silva (Juazeiro, Bahia, Brazil), from 2006 to 2008. As economic benefits were considered three situations: A = biogas in substitution to LPG; B = A + biofertilizer in substitution of synthetic fertilizers; C = A + B + carbon credits. The annual production of biogas corresponded for saving in LPG of R$ 539.75. Biofertilizer was equivalent to synthetic fertilizer in R$ 425.15. The carbon credits were estimated in R$ 211.99. In A, B, and C situations, the benefit:cost ratio was, respectively, of: 1.73; 2.95; and 3.56. In loan simulation with interest rate of 5.5% per year and payment from situation A, the payback was at 7 th year. After 10 years, the profit was R$ 1,840.88; 6,092.36, and 8,212.26, in A, B, and C situations, respectively; amount considered feasible in avoiding purchasing products from outside the propriety, resulting in increases in the energetic resources and food security for the poorest regions.
