- W2158817378 abstract "This book is a compendium of chapters that provides conceptual, factual, and interpretive material in imaging and intervention of diseases of the female pelvic organs. The editor has employed the foremost experts from around the world to analyze the contributions of MRI, CT and ultrasound in the diagnosis of neoplastic disease of the uterine cervix, the endometrium, the vulva, the ovaries, and the adnexa. The book is divided into 14 chapters, starting with a review of benign and malignant disease of the female pelvis. After a comprehensive review of sonography in the assessment of benign and malignant conditions of the uterus, magnetic resonance imaging is compared to ultrasound in the assessment of benign uterine lesions. These chapters are followed by a detailed description of color Doppler ultrasound in imaging of benign and malignant neoplasms of the female pelvis. Next are two chapters which deal with MRI of the cervical and endometrial cancer and the assessment of endometrial cancer by ultrasound. The next chapter is dedicated to the assessment of therapeutic response and recurrence of malignancies of the female pelvis. These chapters are followed by two sections which cover the role of MRI in imaging of invasive mole and imaging of the ovary in correlation with ultrasound. The next chapters are dedicated to subjects that usually get little attention in the radiologic literature: transrectal ultrasound in the assessment of female pelvic malignancies and recurrent disease, and radiology of the female bladder, urethra, and pelvic floor. The last sections cover interventional procedures including hysterosalpingography in the assessment of congenital, inflammatory, and postsurgical changes of the uterus and fallopian tubes, selective salpingography and transcervical recanalization of obstructed fallopian tubes, as well as interventional procedures in the management of inflammatory and neoplastic conditions of the female pelvis." @default.
