- W2158889071 abstract "Abstract: Cancer is a chronic disease and in addition to common complication of chronic diseases, unpredictable prognosis and early treat lead to a continuous chain of tension and fear generating factors for patients that make cancer is a weakening disease. For creating feat questionnaire researchers design and record a semi-structured interview with 20 patients. Fears of patients categorized to social, personal, individual and sexual group. The final questionnaire filled for patients. In comparing the results based on gender, only social ( t (109)=-3.592, p =0.001) and personal (t(109)=-2.476, p =0.015) variables had statistically significant difference. The difference among the mean scores of patients based on marital status was statistically significant only with respect to the sexual variable ( t (109)=1.158, p =0.001). Findings confirm a higher average of social, individual, and disease-related fears among female patients, and a higher average of sexual fears among men sufferers. The traditional culture of Iranian society believes women should remain with the patient men and assumes the accompanying woman as the good one. However, when a man is living with a patient woman, he is normally thought of as one lonely, sexually-deprived man, which in turn magnifies the fear from losing the living conditions for women sufferers. So higher levels of such fears exist in women. Since fears affect the immune system of the body and may defect the treatment outcomes, cognitive treatments, removing the faulty cycle of cognition, and positive treatment are among the methods suggested for helping the patients.
