This article highlights the extentto which 292 subordinates and 106 of their immediate supervisorsperceive that high involvement human resource managementpractices are implemented at six outlets of a large internationalretailer in Malaysia. The survey revealed that supervisors mostlyrated higher than their subordinates on employees’ ability toparticipate in decision‐making and training programmes, as well ason the presence of relevant resources, information, and fair rewardsacross the six outlets.
