Palabras claveNeurociencia Cognitiva Marco TeoricoABSTRACTPSYCHOLOGY AND COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE: TOWARDS AN INTEGRATIVE FRAMEWORK Current psychology enhanced its explanatory potential with the incorporation of cognitive neuroscience studies. Regrettably this potential did not lead to important theoretical advances. The main reason is that this association was not accompanied by a theoretical integration work. This article sketches a framework that carries out that integration. The framework contains an ontological outlook and a definition of scientific psychology; it proposes a systemic methodology and sketches a base model of conscious systems. The ontological outlook is materialist and systemic. Psychology is defined as the scientific study of conscious systems. The systemic methodology states that the structure and mechanisms of conscious systems determine their psychological states and their behaviour, and that the former are influenced by environmental stimuli. It proposes that a complete study of conscious system should consider their structures, mechanisms, states and behaviours, how these aspects develop, the individual differences and how these aspects interact with the environment. The base model of conscious systems utilizes a new scientific vocabulary. It determines how the structure of conscious systems is constituted and which their general mechanisms are. This base model should be used to develop theories about specific psychological processes.Key wordsCognitive neuroscience Framework" @default.
