Este estudio es parte de un proyecto de investigacion doctoral y tiene como objetivo presentar y analizar algunos de los principales indicadores estadisticos/bibliometricos de la Produccion Cientifica Portuguesa buscando asociarlos con la b-on. Se analizo desde 2007 hasta 2011, el uso de los recursos por las universidades miembros del consorcio, habiendo sido seleccionadas como muestra las cinco con mas descargas por FTE (full time equivalent). Ademas de los datos de uso del consorcio, se utilizo la Web of Science en la cual se identifico a los articulos indexados con afiliacion institucional en las universidades portuguesas. A partir de estos, se identifico a los autores con mayor numero de articulos indexados. Posteriormente, se analizaron otros datos como: produccion cientifica por area cientifica, cooperacion internacional, revistas cientificas con el mayor numero de articulos publicados, entre otros. Access to information and production of scientific knowledge: b-on and a bibliometric analysis. In recent years several initiatives have been developed to promote universal access to Information and Knowledge Society. It was in this context that the Online Knowledge Library (b-on) was created in Portugal in 2004. With it, it became easier to get access to the full text of international scientific publications. This study is part of a PhD research project and it aims to present and evaluate some of the statistical and bibliometrical indicators of the Portuguese Scientific Production seeking to associate it with b-on. The paper analyses the usage of b-on resources by the public universities members of the consortium between 2007 and 2011; the five universities with more downloads per FTE (full time equivalent) were selected as a study sample. In addition to the usage data of the consortium, we used the Web of Science (WoS) from which we identified the indexed articles with Portuguese universities affiliation. Thereafter, and relying on a quantitative methodology, we identified the authors with the largest number of indexed articles.
