- W2165083592 abstract "The first part of this paper deals with optimisation of light-induced charge separation by organized molecular assemblies such as surfactant micelles. Proximity effects and local electrostatic potentials can be exploited to accelerate light-driven electron transfer reactions and retard energy wasting back electron transfer. These possibilities are further enhanced by employing functional! zed electron donors or acceptors which undergo self-assembly in aqueous solution. By judicious choice of the reactants', cooperative effects assisting charge separation can be achieved. Recently, we have succeeded in producing ultrafine crystalline semiconductor particles (TiO2, CdS, Fe2O3, CdSe) which form transparent aqueous dispersions. The dynamics of electron ana hole transfer from these particles to redox agents in solution will be dealt with in the second part of this paper. A very important and new finding concerns multielectron transfer events mediated by the semiconductor colloids. Applications include visible light-driven cleavage of water and H2S as well as reduction of NAD+ to NADH." @default.
