- W2166163977 abstract "A sequence of peat soils from the Vragender/Korenburger Veen, situated in the eastern part of The Netherlands, ranging from oligotrophic to eutrophic deposits, has been characterized by Curie-point pyrolysis—mass spectrometry and also by some traditional parameters, viz., ash content, bulk density, pH, C/N ratio, humification, soluble ions and the elemental composition. The analytical data were evaluated by multivariate analysis methods. A clear differentiation along the oligotrophic—eutrophic transition is reflected by most of the conventional parameters and by mass peaks in the pyrolysis—mass spectra, indicating proteins, lignins, carbohydrates and hydrocarbons. A less clearly interpretable second trend originates from mass peaks thought to represent carbohydrates, furans and sulphur-containing fragment molecules and roughly corresponds to a wet—dry sequence. Within the above trends strong correlations were found to exist between the mass spectral patterns and the conventional parameters. Processes that may explain these observations are discussed." @default.
