• W2167254374 abstract "Summary Statistical investigations of testicular neoplasms in domestic mammals During the period from 1960 to 1984 all cases of testicular neoplasm in horse, cattle, small ruminants (sheep and goat), pig, dog and cat, which had been recorded in the Institute of Pathology and Forensic Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, were examined. No tumour of this localization was found in cattle, small ruminants, pig or cat, whereas 0.38% of the horses and 2.3% of the dogs showed testicular tumours. The frequency of the canine neoplasms was shown to increase significantly during the 25 years of examination. In the horse seminomas were clearly dominating with 87%. In the dog the order of frequency was seminoma (43.6%), Sertoli-cell tumour (24.0%) and interstitial-cell tumour (19.2%). Moreover the different kinds of canine testicular neoplasms showed a preference for different age-groups: for Sertoli-cell tumours the average age was 8.4 years, seminomas 9.8 years, and interstitial-cell tumours 10.5 years. The highest breed frequency was in the Boxer while the Fox Terrier showed the lowest prevalence. Zusammenfassung Aus den Jahren 1960–84 vom Institut für Pathologie und Gerichtliche Veterinärmedizin in Wien stammende Ganzkörper- und Organeinsendungen von Pferd, Rind, kleinen Wiederkäuern, Schwein, Hund und Katze wurden auf das Vorliegen von Hodentumoren untersucht. Kein einziges Neoplasma dieser Art konnte bei Rind, kleinen Wiederkäuern, Schwein und Katze nachgewiesen werden, hingegen fand sich beim Pferd ein Prozentsatz von 0,38, beim Hund ein Prozentsatz von 2,3 betroffen. Letzterer wies während des gesamten Untersuchungszeitraumes (bezogen auf die Mittelwerte jeweils eines Drittels der Zeitspanne) ein hoch signifikantes Anwachsen der Tumorfrequenz auf. Sehr eindeutig dominierte das Seminom beim Pferd mit 87%, beim Hund hielten einander Seminom (mit 43,6%) einerseits sowie Sertolizelltumor (24,0%) und Interstitialzelltumor (19,2%) andererseits die Waage. Die drei wesentlichen Tumorarten traten beim Hund in signifikant unterschiedlichen Altersstufen auf: Sertolizelltumoren im Durchschnitt mit 8,4 Jahren, Seminome mit 9,8 Jahren und Interstitialzelltumoren mit 10,5 Jahren. Die größte Rassendisposition für Hodentumoren wurde beim Boxer, die geringste beim Foxterrier nachgewiesen." @default.
