- W2170552569 abstract "Two experiments were conducted to study the effects of microbial phytase at two dietary levels of phytate and those of vegetal phytase on Zn and Mn availability in broiler chicks (21 days of age). In each experiment, 160 chicks were fed on 10 experimental diets. In experiment 1a, the basal diet (37 mg/kg Zn and 29 mg/kg Mn, corn-soybean meal (CSM)), was supplemented with two levels of Zn (14 and 35 mg/kg) and Mn (16 and 40 mg/kg) in the presence or absence of microbial phytase (800 U/kg) and (experiment 1b) with or without heated bran in order to increase phytate level without increasing vegetal phytase activity. In experiment 2a, the basal CSM diet (34 and 31 mg/kg Zn and Mn, respectively), was supplemented with two levels of Zn (10 and 30 mg/kg) and Mn (12 and 35 mg/kg), in presence or absence of microbial phytase (1200 U/kg). At both Zn and Mn supplementation, heated or non heated wheat was substituted for corn to introduced 480 U/kg vegetal phytase (experiment 2b). No differences were noted in weight gain, feed intake and tibia ash with dietary Zn and Mn level or with presence of phytase. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) decreased, however, with dietary Zn and Mn in one of the trial (2a). Zn concentration in the tibia and plasma as well as tibia Mn increased with dietary mineral levels (22–45 mg Zn/kg; 29–75 mg Mn/kg). Adding microbial phytase improved Zn level in tibia when dietary Zn was low (experiment 1a; 37 mg/kg: experiment 2a; 34 and 44 mg/kg). At higher dietary Zn, microbial phytase had no effect even when dietary phytate was increased to 3.1 g/kg. Vegetal phytase increased plasma and tibia Zn concentrations at the lower Zn dietary supplementation (10 mg/kg) but had no effect on Mn availability. This investigation demonstrates that addition of microbial (800 UP equivalent to 14 mg/kg in a CSM diet) and vegetal (to a lower extend) phytases increase Zn availability in broilers." @default.
