- W2175267064 abstract "A variable speed limit strategy for vehicles under different weather conditions is proposed based on the vehicle driving safety indicators. It can guarantee the stability of vehicle when driving on low-traffic-volume circular curved road sections in mountainous area. Integrated with the Dugoff nonlinear tire model, a seven Degrees of Freedom (DOF) vehicle dynamic model was developed, taking longitudinal, lateral, yaw movement of vehicle body and rotation of four wheels into account. The yaw rate and the body slip angle were selected as the vehicle driving safety indicators. Simulations were carried out with MATLAB/SIMULINK for different initial velocities under various road conditions and alignments, and consequently the critical vehicle speeds were determined. It is concluded that the proposed method can accurately reflect the impact of the complex road conditions and the alignments on the driving safety of vehicles and be used as a remediation strategy for the operating speed limit method for low-traffic-volume circular curved roads covered with ice." @default.
