• W2181902009 abstract "Background: Dysfunctional voiding is a source of significant anxiety to children and their families. Aim: The objectives of this cross sectional study were to identify the frequencies of different urinary voiding dysfunction symptoms, investigate their severity and to detect their impact on Quality of Life (QoL) among children. Material and Methods: An interview questionnaire sheet was completed by 510 children aged 6-12 years. Results: Mono-symptomatic nocturnal enuresis (36.7%), dysuria and frequency (23.7%), urge incontinence (20.8%), urgency and holding maneuvers (14.9%) and sense of incomplete emptying (3.9%) were the identified forms. The severity score ranged from 7-18 with mean value of 11.5±4.2. Severity was significantly (P<0.05) related to some sociodemographic characters and the presence of constipation. Severe symptoms positively correlated with worse quality of life. Emotional and social domains were the mostly affected, the mean values of affection were 61.14%±16.97 and 59.83%±19.73 respectively followed by physical and scholastic domains (36.38% ±8.45and 33.99%±12.46 respectively) with mean value of total affection of 46.35%±12.38. Conclusion: Urinary voiding dysfunction is a health problem among school age children affecting their quality of life." @default.
