• W2182023003 abstract "In the last years, zeolites have been researched for a variety of agricultural and environmental applications because possessing unique properties: cation-exchange, adsorption, and molecular sieving properties. Zeolite can be used as soil conditioners, slow-release fertilizers, carriers for insecticides and herbicides and remediation agents in contaminated soils.The aim of this study was syntheses and characterization of zeolitic materials from power plant ash. Two different zeolite materials were produced from F-class ash, using KOH solutions at atmospheric pressure and at temperature below 90°C. Obtained zeolitic products were analyzed for their composition and properties. The synthesized products provide a significant increase of CEC and the high ability to adsorb heavy metal ions. Because of their unique cation-exchange properties, zeolites can be used for cation-exchange in a soil. The synthesized materials were characterized by the granule size (laser granulometry), thermal stability (thermogravimetry), microstructure (electronic microscopy SEM) and chemical and mineralogical composition (EDAX, diffraction X rays, FT-IR). EDAX analyze for ash and zeolite proves the absence of heavy metal ions, Hg, Cd and Pb, without influence on the life cycle of alive organism. Analyzing the obtained data it can observed the destroyed ash network and crystallization of the new phase, especially in the case of treatment by diffusion at ratios of 1/3. The analyze XRD confirms the presence of zeolite. Very good results concerning the zeolite process can be also obtained in the case of microwave treatment; also the time of treatment significantly decreases." @default.
