- W2183021881 abstract "Hyperuricemia or often called gout disease is a joint disorder caused by a buildup of uric acid crystals. One plant that is known to be able to reduce uric acid is sidagori. Sidagori (Sida rhombifolia Linn.) is one type of tradisional medicinal plants from Malvaceae family which has many benefits as a drug. Previous studies mentioned that the active steroid compound (C29H49O9) in the plants can reduce uric acid in the body, so in this study the reaction of the steroid with uric acid was carried out in vitro. Uric acid was determined using UV-visible spectrophotometric method. Standard solution was measured at λ 513.5 nm. Accuracy obtained from the visible UV-visible spectrophotometric method to measure uric acid was 1.75% and the precision was 0.31%. The results showed that the reaction of the active steroid could reduce uric acid in vitro from 6 mg/dL (0.036 mmol /dL) to an undetected concentration by adding steroid of 192 mg/dL (0.35 mmol/dL). To determine the cause of decreased of uric acid by steroid, a reaction was carried out between uric acid and the steroid where the steroid was completely reacted with the uric acid, the ratio weight was 9.37: 1 (w / w) or 28 : 1 (mmol / mmol). Analysis by TLC showed that there were two spots observed, which one of these was of uric acid and the other was a new compound because the Rf was not similar either with uric acid or with the steroid." @default.
