- W2183059615 abstract "One of the most characteristics features in Jean-Luc Godard’s cinema has been a narrow and intense relation with language and literature. Throughout his filmography, literature is a source of new creativity; assembled in his films as a way of expression, it becomes a vehicle to communicate with the spectator. The French director can be considered one of the pioneers in incorporating literature and plastic arts within the cinema. In doing so, Godard creates a personal universe, where the spectator is an active part who must give an interpretation to all the literarian and artistic references included in his films. This paper focused on this special use of language in Godard’s early films, showing different examples of it as a tool to go deep into his cinema." @default.
