- W2184247377 abstract "This paper is aimed to study the cross cultural relationships that take place between Thai women and Foreigners using the internet and telephone. In this study, quantitative data was collected from 187 Thai women who are living in a major city in the Northeast of Thailand. The study found that Thai women and foreigners meet each other at their work place or are introduced by their relatives or other family members. They are able to contact each another via the Internet and by phone. There are some Thai women who are unable to communicate in English, need to pay someone to help them to translate or to help with writing letters. The Thai women were, on average, 33 years old and had contact with foreigners from 24 countries, the majority from Germany, the United States and England. The foreigners were, on average 48 years old, while 24 of them were over 60 years old. Most of them (39 %) had known each other for less than 1 year, 35 % had known each other for 2 years. 39 % of the Thai women do not have plans to marry with their foreign friends and want to continue to live in Thailand.
