- W2184522908 abstract "The objectives of this study were to examine perceived leadership practices and their influences on organizational commitment and subordinates’ satisfaction with supervisors. This research focused on the professional direct marketing personnel at Thai stock brokerage firms based on a sample of 20 such firms out of a total population of 38 companies. Various instruments and tools were used to collect data concerning perceived leadership practices, organizational commitment, and satisfaction with supervisors. These included: (1) the Leadership Practices InventoryObserver (LPI-O) questionnaire (instrument) developed by Kouzes and Posner (2002); (2) the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) developed by Mowday, Steers, and Porter (1979); and (3) the Job Descriptive Index (JDI) developed by Smith, Kendall, and Hulin (1969). After being translated into the Thai language, the reliability and validity of these instruments were tested in a pilot study and found to be acceptable. The findings of this study indicated that each of the five leadership practices have a significant relationship with organizational commitment and subordinates’ satisfaction with supervisors. The implications of these findings for the function of organizations and organizational development, together with directions for future research on leadership concepts, were also discussed. The impact of these findings on organizational commitment and subordinates’ satisfaction with supervisors was also considered." @default.
