- W2186200844 abstract "Anchorage – so essential issue in orthodontic biomechanics – is defined as resistance to undesirable tooth−move− ment. Commonly applied methods of anchorage−increase have some disadvantages; in majority, they do not elim− inate undesired movement of anchored teeth. It seems that promising solution of this problem is determined by microimplants or – introduced by Kanomi and Costa – titanium microscrews. They are sort of intraoral, extraden− tal and indirect anchorage. Among their numerous advantages, immediate loading possibility, without waiting for osseointegration; easy insertion and removal and low cost should be listed. Application of microscrews not only short− ens treatment duration, but also makes it independent on patients’ compliance, that is also worth emphasizing. The presented review of literature refers to treatment methods of different malocclusions (class II malocclusion, crowd− ing, dento−alveolar protrusion, molar tipping), supported by microimplants. The results shown here prove either cer− tain limitation of undesired tooth−movement, or high efficiency of orthodontic therapy with microscrews; therefore they seem to determine the turning point in treatment of malocclusions (Dent. Med. Probl. 2006, 43, 1, 11–14)." @default.
