• W2186572057 abstract "It is a based tradition that presentations at the RAD ECS conference (held every odd year) are peer evaluated in order to identify and give public recognition to the best works presented that year. As in previous editions, during the conference the RAD ECS 2007 Awards Committee has worked to identify the best oral paper, best poster and best Data Workshop contributions. To this aim, each session has been separately evaluated by different Committee members to identify the top ten papers (or so), based on technical quality, clarity of presentation and significance from the oral, poster and late news presentations. Based on the objective evaluations of the Committee members, nine finalist papers have been selected, each featuring a high average grade, coming from seven different sessions. Other very good papers from several sessions could not be included, due to the established limited number of finalists. This fact positively remarks that a high average scientific quality can be traced across the whole spectrum of activities of the RADECS community. After the conference, each Committee member has received the final version of each manuscript as it resulted after the revisions requested by the TNS Reviewers, thanks to the publication scheduled time of this IEEE-TNS issue. In this way the manuscripts could be purged of possible flaws or misprints, so that the Committee members could give their judgement on the final version that is published in this IEEE-TNS issue, i.e., the same public version that will be consulted by any interested reader in the future. The identification of the Conference Best and Outstanding papers has been performed on the basis ofthe Committee evaluations for each manuscript.
