- W2186709723 abstract "Allergic contact dermatitis is classical example of late hypersensitivity type IV reaction, which is mediated by CD4+ Th1 effector cells. Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) develops after exposure to low molecular weight substances (haptens). At the moment ACD is one of the most common occupational diseases. The prevalence of contact allergy in Western Europe and North American countries to at least one agent reaches up to 19.5% in different age groups. Classical eczematous form of ACD manifests as an erythema, infiltration, hyperkeratosis, swelling and blisters, accompanied by itching. Animal model of ACD is contact sensitivity reaction (CS). It consists of two following stages: induction (afferent phase) and elicitation (efferent phase). First contact with hapten results in induction of antigen-specific effector T-cells (Tef), which are recruited to a site of subsequent exposure to hapten. This review discusses immunological mechanisms that underline ACD, based on a CS model." @default.
