- W2186748936 abstract "In general, ultrasonic sensors are used in environments where there can be hostile conditions which impede the successful we of other methods such as artificial vision. When this occurs, ultrasonic sensors can be used in order to check for the existence of fabrication defects in foundry pieces before allowing them to be machined This check is carried out by studying the echoes coming from the piece under analysis. This article is based on the comparison of the results obtained from two analysis techniques which use these echoes. Both systems work by differentiating the valid pieces from the defective ones, using the high part of the ultrasonic frequency range (215 kHz). In the first case, the process of separation of valid and defective pieces is based on expert systems, applied directly on the temporal characteristics of the echoes. For the second defect detection method, signal processing techniques are used on these high-frequency echoes; firstly, digitally filtering the signal and then, once the part of the signal pertaining to the echoes coming from the piece is separated, it is decomposed into its frequential components. The techniques used in these two working methods are explained in this article. and the other for the reception of their echoes. They are highresolution, small-sized ultrasonic transducers, with a hameter for the transducer window of 13 mm, a transmission bandwidth of 25 kH2 and a reception sensitivity of -77(db vs 1 voWp .bar) and a transmission sensitivity of +20 (db vs 1 p. bar per volt at 1 foot) A power stage was used for the emission of the pulse train and for the echo reception. It is a device for precise electronic measurements, whose pulse repetition mtio can be controlled externally for use with internal trigger, as in this case. The ranging module provides a proportional LATCH output pulse, relative to the time required for the ultrasound to travel between the transmission and reception transducers. For this study, a single pulse train has been used for emission and its echoes have been received. The echo received by the ultrasonic sensor is amplified in the interior of the power stage and sent to the analog output. This analog signal is then read using a data acquisition board controlled by the computer which manages the process." @default.
