- W2186983090 abstract "Much research has been reported to show that Neuroticism (N) is related to Negative Activation (McCrae & Costa, 1991; Meyer & Shack, 1989; Watson & Clark, 1992, 1997). The robustness of the findings led Tellegen (1985) to argue that N be renamed as “Negative Emotionality.” However, past research has rarely included pleasure or other affect dimensions. The current study was intended to fill this vacuum by examining the relations between N and the full spectrum of affective states integrated within a circumplex model of affect. The model was defined by two bipolar axes of Pleasant versus Unpleasant affect and Activated versus Deactivated affect. Negative Activation was a constituent vector. Browne's (1999) CIRCUMExtension procedure was used to project N onto the circumplex model in five different language samples." @default.
