- W2187152527 abstract "Differential cross sections for vibrational excitation in individual states have been measured, in the mean energy range (100-3000 eV), in an ion-molecule crossed-beam experiment. The experimental requirements (very good angular, as well as energy resolution, low temperature target gas) are achieved thanks to the properties of the ion beam (AE ^0.15 eV, A9 <± 0.025 deg) and of the molecular beam (Tj.< T// « 101 K). Vibrational excitation is observed for the systems He+-H? and He+-N2 at 310 and 510 eV (lab). A theoretical treatment is given using the impact parameter approach and the sudden approximation for the rotations in the semiclassical approximation. A potential surface is constructed and used under a simplified analytical form. The transition probabilities obtained are in qualitative agreement with the experimental data." @default.
