- W2187225179 abstract "Background. Serum ferritin is the most common parameterused to assess iron status in newborn, can be rising inacute infection, inflammation or malignancy. A newparameter such as Ret-He consider be more accurate,less expensive, easier, faster and earlier detected toassess iron status.Objectives. To knows correlation between Ret-He andSerum Ferritin in newborn at RS PKU Muhammadiyah andwhether Ret-He can be an alternative indicator of irondeficiency.Method. Cross-sectional with direct observation isconducted. Serum Ferritin and Ret-He is taken directlyfrom blood cord immediately after baby born at RS PKUMuhammadiyah, Bantul.Result. Among 313 newborns, 56 excluded due toincomplete data. In total 257 included with 94,6% havenormal ferritin status with reference range 6-400 I¼g/L,99,3% have Ret-He level above cut off point 29 pg. Withp= 0,124(p> 0,05), r= 0,095(r= 0,0 - <0,2), and slopsof dots on scatter graph without straight line formedshows no any significant relationship between Ret-Hewith Serum Ferritin.Conclusion. There is no any significantly correlationbetween Ret-He and serum ferritin in newborn. Ret-Hewas not shown a positive chance to be alternativeindicator to assess iron status of newborn due to lackof previous studies in newborn." @default.
