- W2187826283 abstract "Synopsis Skin potential measurements were carried out in the guinea pig to assess responses due to stratum corneum removal, depilation, and irritation. All treatments caused a reduced negative skin potential. With increasing stratum comeurn removal by successive tape stripping, a nonlinear decrease in potential negativity occurred. The response to cream and wax depilation resulted in an immediate loss of potential negativity, but recovery was rapid and apparently complete by 5 days. Irritants like polyethylene glycol and retinoic acid also caused a reduced negativity in the skin potential. The recovery to pretreatment potential levels with prolonged treatments of retinoic acid may be indicative of the skin hardening or the accommodation phenomenon that is known to be associated with this drug." @default.
