- W2187943242 abstract "It is often necessary to measure the size of small particles in different fields of science and technology. These particles can be solid or fluid aerosols in atmosphere, emulsion and suspension in fluid, bacteria, cells in biological objects, etc. For the particles with the sizes between 10 nm and 100 pm it is convenient to use measurement methods, which are based on measuring the characteristics of light, which is scattered by these particles. The mathematical problems, which are necessary to solve, are the inverse optics problems. That is, it is required to find object parameters by using the results of the radiation interaction with the object. Usually, such problems are incorrect. Small errors of input data produce large errors in the results. Many methods for the solution of these problems have been developed. The most of them are based on statistical data handling that requires a large volume of numerical calculations. They are intensively elaborated now due to good mathematical programs available for power computers. The use of computers gives also a possibility to employ the mathematical modeling for solving the problems. The methods for measuring the particle sizes, which are based on light scattering, can be divided into two groups" @default.
