The small changes in neural activitythatwedidobservecouldbeaccountedforprimarilybysubtlechangesinbehavior.Weconcludethattherelationshipbetween neural activity and practiced behavior is reasonably stable, at least on timescales of minutes up to 48 h. This finding has significant implicationsforthedesignofneuralprostheticsystemsbecauseitsuggeststhatdevicerecalibrationneednotbeoverlyfrequent,Italso hasimplicationsforstudiesofneuralplasticitybecauseastablebaselinepermitsidentificationofnonstationaryshifts." @default.
