• W2189130173 abstract "SUMMARY The present study was designed to investigate the effects of repeated exposure to pyrethroid fenpropathrin on blood picture, certain serum biochemical constituents, total protein and protein electrophoretic patterns, semen characters as well as its residual amounts in different organs and tissues. For this purpose two groups of male rats have been orally administered two dose levels 0.76 and 0.076 mg/kg B.wt. (equivalent to 1/100 and 1/1000 LD50) daily for 10 successive weeks together with control group. Through which blood and serum samples were collected every two weeks, and after withdrawal time (2 & 4 weeks). Results revealed that both 1/100 and 1/1000 LD50 of fenpropathrin caused significant decrease in haemoglobin concentration (Hb), packed cell value (PCV) and erythrocytic count (RBCs), while significant increase in total leucocytic count (WBCs) was recorded. Also, significant elevation in the AST and ALT activities, urea and creatinine levels. On the other hand, hypoproteinaemia, hypoalbuminaemia were observed in the treated rats as well as decrease in total globulin and albumin/globulin ratio. Semen analysis of the exposed rats revealed significant decrease in the sperm density, motility% and weights of reproductive organs, together with increase in the percentages of abnormal sperm cells.
