- W2189534868 abstract "Photometric variability is one of the manifestations of the activiny of =a~ ~lac~ nuclei. The establishment of the nature of variable sources is intimately related to clarification of the mechanisms of their emission~ Here, determination for these sources of the energy distribution in the continuum plays an important part. In our paper [i], which was based on analysis [2] of five-color optical observations of the quasar 3C 345, we showed that its variability at the time of the outburst in 1983 could be explained by the presence of a single source of variable flux but unchanged power-law energy distribution in the spectrum. When polarimetric data were taken into account, it could be concluded that this source had a synchrotron emission mechanism~ In [3, 4], the re~ sults were published of analogous observations made in 1983--84 of a n~nber of BL Lac objects, which, as is well known, are the most active of the extragalactic objects~ The present paper is devoted to an analysis of the photometric data for eight of the~ 2. Method of Analysis and Reduction of Observational Data As in [i], we use the method proposed by Choloniewski [5] for separating variable sources, it is based on comparison of fluxes measured simultaneously in different spectral bands. If there is just one variable source with unchanged energy distribution in the spectrum, then when the fluxes are compared in pairs the points corresponding to the observed fluxes must lie on straight lines whose angular coefficients give the ratios of the fluxes of the variable source in the corresponding spectral bands, ire., its relative energy distribution." @default.
