- W2194077229 abstract "Based on arguments and practices of Martin Luther, who says that one cannot do theology without philology, this article questions the little time invested in the teaching of biblical languages in many Lutheran institutions of theological formation. It presents some of the arguments given by these institutions to justify the cut in hours of teaching these languages. Then it goes on to present arguments from Martin Luther as well as from other authors, from church workers and from students to justify the intensification of the study of biblical languages. It concludes with an analysis of two Old Testament texts based on the Hebrew, showing in practice how the knowledge of Hebrew helps to understand the text and the commentaries about the text. Through this it attempts to demonstrate that the knowledge of biblical languages is an important tool in producing a deeper, more consistent, autonomous and contextualized theology." @default.
