- W2202464573 abstract "To compare clinical outcomes following in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplamisc sperm injection (ICSI) when only a single oocyte retrieved with non-male factor. Retrospective study was performed in this study and included 2,133 patients with 3,310 completed treatment cycles from January 2007 to June 2014, who underwent either stimulated or spontaneous cycles that resulted in only a single oocyte was retrieved. Fertilization, clinical pregnancy, miscarriage and live birth rates per embryo transfer were compared with two insemination methods and further analyzed whether the clinical outcomes were affected by the patient's diagnosis with primary infertility, secondary infertility and age (38 years). Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS, version 13.0 (SPSS, Inc), and the clinical outcomes between groups were compared using the X2 test. The differences in means of demographic data were calculated by t test, P<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. There were no differences in term of fertilization rates between IVF and ICSI for insemination. Also there were no differences in term of clinical pregnancy, miscarriage and live birth rates between two insemination methods. The fertilization, clinical pregnancy, miscarriage and live birth rates were similar based on primary infertility, secondary infertility, ≤38 years-old and >38 years-old groups. There were similar clinical outcomes with IVF or ICSI as insemination method when the patients with only a single oocyte retrieved. The choice for insemination method should be based primarily on sperm quality. Therefore, the low number of eggs retrieved is not an indication for performance of ICSI." @default.
