- W2205185139 abstract "Many engineers and most of the general public have been formed under the vision that structures are static systems built to preserve the form and avoid ruin of an engineering object such as a car, a bridge, an airplane, an offshore oil rig etc. This vision leads to neglect one of the more obvious human sensations: the fact that the time passes and nothing stays quite the same. The main objective of the dynamics of structures is to deal with the passage of time and its consequences upon structures, specially accounting for the kinetic energy and inertial forces that arise from non-negligible velocities and accelerations. The selected contributions of this special issue falls on a series of interesting problems related to recent developments in nonlinear dynamics and control of structures been designed for state of art mechanical, civil, aerospace and naval applications. Claeyssen et al.[6] study the nonlocal elastic beam models in small size structures. Diego Colon et al. [7] study the robust control of a variable speed control moment gyroscope. K. Y. Plaksiy et al.[8] present the resonance behavior of the limited power-supply system coupled with the nonlinear absorber. Paulo J. P. Gonc¸alves et al. [9] study the dynamic behavior analysis of spring-mass-damper systems jumping on ground: free and forced motion. Itamar Iliuk et al.[10] provide, thermal-hydraulic analysis of a plate-type fuel surrounded by two water channels byusing Relap5.
