- W2212051862 abstract "This chapter throws attention on biological 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. It explores that, with all areas of NMR investigation, the advent of Fourier Transform (FT) NMR spectrometers has revolutionized the study of biological materials and biochemical systems. This revolution applies to both I3C and 31P NMR studies because the former was limited by its low natural abundance and the latter by its low concentration in tissue. As a consequence, the use of 31P NMR spectroscopy has spread now to many areas of biological interest at all organizational levels, from pure chemicals up to viable organs and living small creatures. The chapter surveys the literature on 31P NMR of biochemical systems and to present an account of the methods employed, the results obtained, and the likely future developments and applications. This chapter omits detailed discussions of separate NMR and biological phenomena and provides a necessary minimum of biochemical background for understanding the significance of the 31P NMR information." @default.
