• W2214173681 abstract "Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is the largest electricity utility in Malaysia. Improving the efficiency of its coal-based power plant plays an important role in improving the performance of TNB’s power sector. It allows in increase consumer benefits through cost reduction, while enhancing energy security and help to reduce local and global pollution through more efficient coal use. A focus on supply-side efficiency also complements other ongoing efforts on end-use efficiency. Due to high demand from its consumers and low efficiency, TNB planned to improve and increase its efficiency of TNB Janamanjung Coal Power Plant. The aim of this review paper is to study, review and analyse the factors that are affecting efficiency of coal-based power plants. The data collected for this review paper through descriptive study is obtained from the previous research papers that have been analyzed and discussed in order to identify the factors i.e. plant design efficiency, fuel, and pollutant control that are affecting efficiency of its coal-based power plant and find the ways to increase its efficiency. The paper is based on results and findings from previous research papers related to this study. The findings and results can be identified and measured by descriptive study method. The result shows that the efficiency of coal-based or coal-fired power plant can be increased and the factors that are affecting its efficiency can be determined. All the findings and results from this review paper can form the basis for useful recommendations to TNB to improve and increase efficiency of its coal-based power plant in Malaysia to increase its profitability, performance and revenues." @default.
