- W2235200412 abstract "Precision Medicine is becoming one of the next major challenges for our domain. Including data on the genetic profiles of individuals adds another layer of complexity to the modeling and simulation process. So far this was mainly approached in genome wide association studies, but the next step definitely will be to expand towards the molecular level of individualized medicine, and to exploit our methods to this new area. This opens a wide area of possibilities for developing new algorithms and applications and will allow to demonstrate the added value and innovative power of informatics in the drug discovery process as well as in chemistry and life sciences at large. With its scope, Molecular Informatics is perfectly suited to become the forum in this area, and we are ready to publish high quality articles dealing with all computational aspects related to precision medicine. In 2015, Molecular Informatics published a total of 66 critically peer-reviewed Methods Corner, Application Note, Communication, Full Paper, and Review articles, and also introduced a new article type: Minireviews. In addition, two special issues were published: issue 6-7/2015, guest-edited by Vladimir Poroikov, was devoted to the 20th EuroQSAR: Understanding Chemical-Biological Interactions, while issue 9/2015, guest-edited by Nathan Brown, was dedicated to Chemoinformatics in the United Kingdom. Since 2012, the “Molecular Informatics Best Paper Award” has been given to distinguish excellent publications in our journal. It is an annual award and it is based on the editors' choice, taking into account criteria such as novelty, impact, topic, and online usage. We are delighted to announce that the Editor's choice for the 2015 “Molecular Informatics Best Paper Award” goes to the paper entitled “PseDNA-Pro: DNA-Binding Protein Identification by Combining Chou's PseAAC and Physicochemical Distance Transformation” led by Bin Liu from the Harbin Institute of Technology in Shenzen.1 Congratulations to all authors of this work. Don't miss the opportunity to submit your best-quality manuscripts to compete for the “Best Paper Award 2016”! We would like to express our gratitude to all authors, peer reviewers, and Editorial Advisory Board members who contributed to Molecular Informatics and help us to keep its high standards. Molecular Informatics has become a well-established journal covering all aspects of biomedical informatics, and we will continue to work towards strengthening the journal's position in our community. We look forward to another year of excellent contributions to Molecular Informatics. 1 1 1 1 Knut Baumann Gerhard F. EckerJordi MestresGisbert Schneider The Editors" @default.
