• W2237505112 abstract "The specialty of Oral Surgery has become predominant in dentistry, one of the most relevant areas to the profession and to oral health, as well as for the rehabilitation of patients. In fact, any Dentist, although not expert in the field, needs to have the basic knowledge of surgery in order to practice their profession with responsibility and professional ethics. This work studied in more detail the impacted third molar surgery, the complications that can occur, how to avoid the same and the recommended treatment to resolve. Thus is proposed a compilation of theoretical material in order to deepen the knowledge within the Oral Surgery, more exactly on the level of extraction of impacted third molars and associated complications. Dental inclusion, or retention, or even impaction, defines teeth that failed to erupt completely at the expected time, and the most logical explanation and more accepted is the lack of space in the dental arch, but are still found in the dental literature some divisions for the causes of impaction, such as local, general (certain conditions) and various factors. The indications and contraindications for extraction depend on the Dentist and training that the same had (different universities have different views on this subject), this is a subjective topic that will be investigated during the work. Complications associated with impacted third molar extraction of the maxillary and mandibular bones, range from injuries in soft tissue and adjacent bone structures, more severe fractures cases and mandibular alveolar nerve damage and / or lingual nerve damage.
