Only the industry surveys and The Outlook, a stock market newsletter, are permanently archived (previously these were rolling files, but the policy was changed in response to popular demand). More historical coverage might be nice, but the content is appropriate for Net Advantage's target audience of users doing basic investment, company, and industry research. Net Advantage's interface is essentially a platform for searching electronic versions of print resources. It is designed to be simple and user-friendly. The interface consists of three frames: the Header Frame, containing a topical navigation bar; the Navigation Frame, containing links to the eleven databases; and the Main Application Frame, where users search for, view, and download information. The topical links in the Header Frame are useful because they provide direct links to the current industry surveys and The Outlook as well as help and contact information. Navigating the databases is very intuitive-select a database in the Navigation Frame and you are taken to the appropriate search screen. All eleven databases share the same search engine, which has both basic and advanced search screens. Basic searches use fielded keyword searching. The search fields vary for each database, that is, you can search by ticker symbol in the stock reports, but not in the industry surveys. The advanced search screen supports Boolean searching via drop-down menus; it also offers a wider selection of search fields. Researchers can use the advanced screen to search databases for results meeting a specific set of criteria; for instance, stocks in the S&P 500 with price/earnings ratios greater than ten or companies with sales of more than one billion dollars with their home in San Francisco. …" @default.
