- W2243344674 abstract "The traditional educational process has many breakdowns, producing unmet expectations and leading to dissatisfied clients (students, instructors, and employers). The goal of the proposed research is to help improve the educational process by using distributed Internet-based learning technologies to automate part of the process, reduce the instructor's workload, assist student learning, keep track of student progress at the individual level, and provide students with fast feedback on their progress.This research is based on the hypothesis that everyone is Hyperlearning. The term Hyperlearning was first introduced by Lewis J. Perelman (PER92). Hyperlearning allows students to learn on non-linear pathways and ultimately to demonstrate proficiency with materials learned through the Hyperlearning Meter.The Hyperlearning Meter is an automated instructional system that offers continuous assessments to measure students' competence against well-defined standards. The Hyperlearning Meter also identifies the nature and degree of specific abilities that a student has, then offers the most efficient learning resources needed to address any shortcomings in his/her proficiency. The Hyperlearning Meter provides two kinds of assessment tests: (1) self-assessment, and (2) certification. The Hyperlearning Meter, based on instructors' input, generates assessment tests which can be taken by students at any time. Certification tests are used to confirm that students have met the learning objectives of a course. If the students pass the certification tests, they receive certificates indicating that they have acquired the necessary knowledge for a particular class. Students can use the certificates as prerequisites to sign up for other classes in order to fulfill their requirements for graduation.The expected outcome of the research is a technology that helps improve the educational process. A prototype of the Hyperlearning Meter was developed and evaluated in actual course environment to demonstrate the underlying concepts. The findings of this study will contribute to the high-tech processes of certification in the Hyperlearning environment where mindcraft replaces handicraft as the main form of work." @default.
