It was found that the adsorption capacity was increased with the increase in NaOH concentration. Overall, the extent of methylene blue dye adsorption increased with increase in initial dye concentration, contact time, and solution pH but decreased with increase salt concentration and temperature. Equilibrium data were described by both Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of base modified pine cone at two different NaOH concentrations were 142.25 mg/g and 139.23 mg/g at 30degreesC. The value of separation factor, RL, from Langmuir equation and Freundlich constant, n, both gives an indication of favourable adsorption. The pseudo- first- order model and pseudo- second- order model were used to describe the kinetic and mechanism of adsorption process. Thermodynamic parameters such as standard Gibbs free energy (DeltaGdegrees), standard enthalpy (DeltaHdegrees), standard entropy (DeltaSdegrees) and the activation energy (A) were also calculated." @default.
