- W2246181427 abstract "In this paper, a novel neuromusculoskeletal system model for an inverse muscle activity estimation method is proposed. The neuromusculoskeletal system is represented as a state-space equation by standard models in physiology and the proposed neural input model. Conditions for the system observability are investigated and shown that they are physiologically satisfied. Hence, a state observer is utilized to estimate the muscle activity. To verify the proposed method, a simulation study is conducted for the case of normal gait. The estimation result shows reasonable values compared to well known electromyography (EMG) patterns, which demonstrate that the proposed method is able to estimate muscle activity. Since the proposed method is purely based on physiology and utilizes only joint kinematics and torques, it is expected to provide a simple, fast and physiological estimation, which can lead to human-friendly designs of assistance systems." @default.
